Sunday Adult Education St. Thomas sponsors an Adult Education Program between the 8:00 and 10:00 services. During the spring we feature an interesting offering of “Sunday Morning Gumbo,” which can be just about anything. This provides an opportunity for a free flowing discussion of any kinds of theological, biblical, or church questions and issues that are of interest. Fr. Bill has his own recipe of a dash of Scripture, a pinch of history, a tablespoon of Catechism, and a smidgen theology to add to the discussions.During the Sundays of Lent, we offered have a five week program that focused upon and examination of Jesus Christ and salvation. During the first four weeks we covered important doctrines about who Jesus is, how we are saved, and who is saved. The last session discussed meaning of Jesus' last words, and wrap-up the course. Other course offerings have included ● The Doctrine of the Trinity, a four week examination of the basic doctrine of God as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. ● A five week study of The Seven Letters of the Book of Revelation to the Churches in Asia with an emphasis on how they might apply to the church in today’s society. ● A two week series on Christology as a Study of the Work and Person of Jesus Christ to help understand Christ’s humanity, divinity, and mission as set forth in the Bible, by early Church Fathers and Church Councils, and as developed through medieval times to the present day. ● A multipart series on Discovering the Faith, a look at basic Christianity, including baptism and confirmation instruction. ● A five week series on History and Authenticity of the Bible focusing on how it came together, and its reliability and accuracy. ● A five week series on Perspectives on the Mid-East Crisis, Scripture, Theology, and Politics to assist in understanding theological underpinnings of the contemporary Mid-East conflict. ● A six week series on An Outline of the Faith, commonly called the Catechism as an introduction to the Christian faith. Womens’ Bible Study The Womens’ Bible Study Group meets weekly to examine and discuss the meaning of and perspectives upon various Biblical books. It recently has studied Mark and 1 John. Earlier it concluded an extensive study of The Book of Daniel, and an examination of the Apocryphal books of 1 and 2 Maccabees. During the summer members of the group met to study The Gospel of Matthew.
